Meet The Meds

“Grey’s Anatomy” can take a backseat this year. Columbia University’s Medical Center provides not only top health care professionals, but also some of Columbia’s top performers. That’s right – performers. This past week, the Events and Outreach Team attended two events in Bard Hall where we had the opportunity to take in the scene – literally.

At the Physician and Surgeon (P&S) Coffeehouse, Michael Jackson made an appearance…as a new dance group intoxicated the crowd of 100+ with their moves to “Smooth Criminal.” Immediately following was a one-man dance force clearly proving that breakdancing is alive and well. The evening continued with live band sets and intermittent medical trivia – a humerus addition to the line-up.

On Tuesday, we were able to meet with other performing groups at the P&S Club Fair: The Ultrasounds, an a capella group; Bard Hall Players – the leaders behind last year’s productions of Footloose and Romeo & Juliet; P&S Dance Club; and the P&S Musician’s Guild. All of the groups are looking forward to full production schedules this year in addition to their studies. Who doesn’t love a Type A Columbian personality?

Show your support this year and attend one of their events. Who knows? Tomorrow, they may be attending your illness.
