Goodbye to Rue McClanahan, the Sassiest of the Golden Girls

Rue McClanahan, who played man-crazy Southern belle Blanche Devereaux on the acclaimed sitcom The Golden Girls, died this morning. While I seriously encourage a thorough exploration of the series through YouTube (it was surprisingly edgy and progressive for an ’80s sitcom about four old women living in Florida), below is a short clip of Blanche doing what Blanche did best: reveling in the company of a man.

We rue the day she left us, but we wish her safe journey to her own Golden Palace in the sky.

Now that she’s the only Golden Girl left, can I suggest we all rally around Betty White and protect her at all costs….?
