Video(s) of the Day: Coming Back Ain’t Ever Easy

For those of you who have used the summer to hide from the pains of reality and everything that comes with it, I’ve got some sad news for you. School starts in a little over two weeks. But before you panic by thinking about all the classes, cold weather, internship applications, and general malaise that is surely coming this fall, we’ve got you some cool reasons to want to come back:

First of all, remember that wide-eyed expression you had when you first came to Columbia, where you had the big smile and thought you could do anything? Well Kenny Nakazawa, CC ’14, certainly has that, and he’s showing it on the Internet. He’s made a couple of videos that are fun collage mixes of still frames and music that remind you that this place is kind of awesome. He even makes our sports teams look cool! Anyways, see his video below, which is certainly better than an admissions musical that a certainly Ivy League school did.

For the less naïve, your hardened soul can’t hate on this wondrous video of Barnard/Columbia all female acapella group Bacchantae doing a rendition of the perennial classic “Bitches Ain’t Shit” by Dr. Dre (they’re doing the Ben Folds cover).  The song may be a little offensive (as well as risque), but you’ve got to hand it to the group for not even being ironic about it, and delivering a full force and sometimes sublime rendition.

Peter Labuza, CC’11
