NOMADS’ The Leap of Ersatz! Director Interviews

The Leap of Ersatz!
April 1 – 4, 2010
Diana Black Box Theater

A mixed media performance project that utilizes music, film, dance, and paint to explore the fine line between reality and fiction, the conscience and the subconscious. It recounts the story of Ersatz, an archetypal poet who returns to nature in order to give meaning to a life filled with loss, disillusionment and entrapment. While on his path, however, Ersatz falls into a state of unconsciousness while his memories play out on the stage. Dance, projection and light convey both the mood and the story while painters craft unique works of art on large canvases that serve as the centerpiece, backdrop, set, playing-space, and palate. It will be the inaugural performance in the Diana Center Black Box, and will use the Diana’s botanical rooftop garden and art gallery as extensions of the performance space.
